Responsibilities

We have an immediate opening for a talented Systems Engineer for our X-Ray products in our UK Engineering department. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development and validation of new tools, as well as improvements to existing tools.

The candidate will have a strong background in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and will be able to:

  • Utilise experience in Electrical/Electronic system & architecture definition to design and document a complete and complex framework, system, or product. Can involve circuit design & analysis, interface design (e.g. communications, cabling), testing & validation, characterising and integrating new components in existing platforms, and collaborating with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to deliver overall solutions.
  • Prepare requirements documents and manage verification/validation activities.
  • Define, manage and document the evolution of technical platforms, system interfaces, input/outputs, and other technical issues to ensure system level hardware and/or software compatibility.
  • Support the integration of Alpha and Beta prototype tools, and optimise tool configurations, whilst identifying, analysing, and resolving system design weaknesses.
  • Influence future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) design used across multiple products or systems.
  • Ensure that electrical designs comply with industry standards and regulations, whilst working with external bodies to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of standards in order to provide advice to internal colleagues.
  • Manage 3rd party contractors for the delivery of specialist services (e.g. PCB design).
  • Contribute to or lead inter-disciplinary design reviews.
  • Transfer knowledge and systems to production: develop and document calibration and alignment processes, prepare tool characterisation test plans, develop test-jigs, train Tech Support and production teams.
  • We are looking for a person with a pragmatic and results oriented attitude to work on challenging projects that will impact current and future products.
